A mind map is the first step in brainstorming ideas for necessary rooms, requests, and design styles.
Shows which rooms have desired adjacencies. All necessary rooms are color-coded to distinguish public and private areas in the home.
This blocking plan stems from bubble diagram 3 and shows a rough idea of where rooms may go in the preliminary floor plan of the house.
A mind map is the first step in brainstorming ideas for necessary rooms, requests, and design styles.
Phase 3A:
Preliminary Plan
Based on the blocking plan from the previous phase, I hand drafted a preliminary floor plan to solidify the placement of rooms and walkways with walls and furniture.
Phase 3B:
Refined Plan
Based on Phase 3A, I drafted a final refined floor plan in AutoCAD. I included rugs, closets in all of the bedrooms, and moved furniture for a better layout.
Phase 4:
House Model
Based on the refined floor plan, I 3D printed a model at 1/4" scale. The walls, arched doorways, windows, fireplace, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and shower/tub thresholds are represented as well.

Phase 5:
FF&E Board
This board shows all the furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the home. This includes flooring, countertops, cabinets, appliance packages, fabrics, and color palettes. I opted for a blended style of Greek, Scandinavian, and Turkish because the family loves to travel to these destinations.

Poster Tip
From the Interior Designer's portable handbook, I selected the Fire Classifications concept to create a poster. This illustrates the importance of fire safety in Interior Design.
